Lessons from kilts and bagpipes

Search 'Scottish fans - FIFA world cup' and you'll find endless comments from US citizens enthusing about the loveliness and enthusiasm of the Scottish fans. Whether waxing lyrical about their singing, their kilts, their ability to sink gallons of beer, or the number of traffic cones they put on statues, Americans have truly embraced the Scottish fans.
Two things have stood out and we can all learn marketing lessons from them:
- the pride and enthusiasm of the Scottish fans;
- their distinctiveness (kilts, bagpipes, songs, humour) which others find very interesting and appealing.
When someone is enthusiastic or pride of their place, hobbies, interests etc, it's really infectious and attractive.
We might not have kilts and bagpipes but we do have special places, customs, views and food we can be proud of.
How could you convey your enthusiasm and pride in your place more?
