Social media image differences

Image differences

Facebook and Instagram perform differently.

You may have already heard me say I'm not a fan of linking insta and facebook accounts together.

They're different tools, with different strengths. When I see a stack of hashtags at the end of a facebook post it makes me cringe. When I see the same post within seconds on both insta and facebook I just think what a wasted opportunity. A few small tweaks can make a big difference to the impact of those posts, and if you tailor each post to the platform and stagger them with a little space between them, it could work much better.

But I've noticed another big difference at the moment, between the type of images that perform best on each channel.

We know that videos are performing well, but what about images?

Posts on facebook with just one strong image seem to do much better than several small images or a composite of several images.

Whereas on insta, several images as a carousel works really well at the moment.
