Overnight levy
It now looks likely that the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire aims to introduce the overnight levy from March 2027 onwards. After a meeting with Visit North Yorkshire, we were asked to submit any questions or concerns for them to collate and pass on to the Mayor.
I asked businesses across North Yorkshire to add their thoughts, and then combined them into this document. It's a little haphazard as I wasn't well at the time and under extreme time pressure but gives an indication of the strength of some concerns and questions still to be answered.

Thank you so much for doing this Susan. Many excellent points, well made, with little time. No stroppiness at all; just a sadly realistic assumption about how all the challenges involved will be 'wished away' rather than properly addressed.
That's great, Susan. Thank you so much for doing so much work on our behalf. My husband has sent in a list of comments too, many stroppy because we believe this to be an unfair imposition on independent small businesses so, as our representative, make no apology for being assertive!
